Perm is the only Russian city to have taken part in EXPO ITALIA REAL ESTATE 2009.
The fifth edition of Expo Italia Real Estate, a real estate trade show, took place in Milan on June 9-12, 2009. EIRE is one of the biggest international investment events. Perm became the only Russian city to participate in it. Among other foreign participants - Brazil, Montenegro, Panama, Hungary, Turkey, Greece, Romania, etc.
The turnout for the edition was considerable: a 36,000 sq.m. area with 350 exhibiters from Italy and abroad, with a visitor count approaching last year's total of 20,000.
Perm presented several projects: the Perm Zoo, Orlyonok Perm Olympic Reserve School of Sports, and the Perm Aquapark. As Perm spokesperson, First Deputy City Manager Anatoly Makhovikov, noted, "At this international investment trade show, we positioned Perm as a city open for investments and cooperation with the business community."
Perm City authorities view the new Zoo as a multi-purpose landscape park, a unique entertainment, educational, and scientific center for Perm citizens and visitors. According to Perm Mayor Igor Shubin, the construction of the Zoo is one of the priority city projects in terms of recreation development.
The Orlyonok Sports School project involves the construction of a major sports center, the biggest in the Ural region (area - 53,700 sq.m.).
As for the water park project, the authorities are offering land (55,000 sq.m.) for water rides and other entertainment services.
During the four days if EIRE, Perm managed to achieve the set goals and objectives. The Perm authorities met up with a number of potential investors which are considering investments in Russia.
"We will continue promoting Perm as an investment-attractive city through different ways, including participation in trade shows and investment conferences," concluded Makhovikov.
